How To Cook A Lean Breakfast

You’ve heard it before and you’ll hear it again, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Most of us have reached for leftover pizza or Chinese food in the morning without really giving it a second thought; but it’s just as easy to make healthy choices, even if you’re half asleep.

Fruits and vegetables are a great place to start.

You can load your plate with either or both and they’ll fill you up without the guilt. Another great thing to do with fruit and veggies if you live a busy lifestyle is to make a green smoothie; blend your favorite fruits with spinach, kale, avocado, add some water or coconut water, and you have the health benefits of fruits and vegetables to go.

A recent study at Harvard proved that fruits and vegetables lower your blood pressure and heart disease and increase your vision. You can’t argue with Harvard.

As great as bacon is, it’s not great for you. But protein is important, so try switching it up by subbing your bacon for egg whites or peanut butter. Making subtle changes in your diet a few days a week will make a big difference in your body. You’ll be more energized throughout the day without fatty foods weighing you down. And if nothing else, protein is key in building muscle.

Bread is a well-known bad guy in the food world, but consuming grains is vital to your well being, decreasing your chance of diabetes and obesity. Instead of white or brown toast, try oatmeal, quinoa, or 100% whole-grain bread.

Consuming grains will also help keep you fuller longer, that way you won’t be reaching for a snack before lunch.

You’re already aware of the importance of dairy in a well-balanced diet, what you might not be aware of is how many options there are when it comes to dairy and dairy products.

Choosing fat-free or low-fat milk and yogurt are your best bet, you just need to keep a closer eye on what you buy at the grocery store. When it comes to yogurt for example, avoid anything flavored. It’s a lot better for you to add your own fruit, honey, or nuts to it.

See? Easy.

….now if only you could force yourself to go to the gym.
